Green Yellow is an incredibly historic Porsche color that dates all the way back to 1974. Originally called Lime Green when it first came out, and also going by its German name Gelbgrün, Green Yellow remained on the menu until around 1977 when its production usage ended. One of Porsche’s true classics, Green Yellow was one of 15 colors chosen to be worn by the 911 IROC RSRs. This means that it was one of the colors worn by the 911s driven by the world’s best racing drivers. These drivers competed with each other in identical 911s whose only key difference was their unique colors that crowds could use to identify them by. This alone cemented the color’s spot in Porsche’s history books. But Green Yellow was also a color that came into usage in what one may view as a golden age of Porsche colors. Why? Here are just some of the other legends that stood next to Green Yellow at the same time: Guards Red, Signal Orange, Orange, Gulf Blue, Mexico Blue, Jade Green, Birch Green, Gemini Metallic, Oak Green Metallic. Does anything more need to be said? Green Yellow isn’t just representing famous race cars, it represents an amazing slice of Porsche history.
